Fijian women’s volleyball captain Anaseini Seniloli believes the Oceania Zonal Championship will assist in their preparation for the World Cup qualifiers Phase 2 next year.

The host side started the zonal championship with a three straight sets, (25-8), (25-18), (25-15) win over the Solomon Islands.

“This is a good opportunity for the girls to have some build-up games,” she said.

“Having this zonal championship in Fiji is a bonus for us as we need to work on our passes and blocks for our next games.”

Seniloli is calling on all Fijian fans to come out in numbers and support the team.

“We need your support so come down and support Team Fiji,” she said.

Solomon Islands women’s captain Gabriella Diau said they were still trying to settle down.

“We were a bit nervous. We hope to do our best in the next game. We have been preparing for the last three months but we look forward to our next game,” she said.
