The young Fijian Blues (women) side were too strong for Cook Islands in the Oceania Zonal Volleyball Championship at the Vodafone Arena, Suva last night. The Blues won the three sets, 25-11, 25-11 and 26-16 respectively.

Speaking to SUNsports, Blues coach Teresia Vocevoce said she was impressed with how her players performed.

“This is a development side for the Fijian women’s team and it has a bunch of girls whose age range from 18 to 25. They are very young and we’ve a talented team. I’m very proud of their performance tonight. A job well done as they played according to our game plan which resulted in our full set win,” she said.

Vocevoce added that despite having only one month to prepare the girls each put in their hard yards which reflected on the results. Today they play Solomon Islands.

“That will be our second game and I’m confident that our girls can win the next game,” she added.
