Bhatnagar Lauds Staff For Support

Staff members of the the Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation celebrated Diwali yesterday at the Civic Centre in Suva.

Assistant Minister Veena Bhatnagar thanked the staff members for their hard work and support towards the ministry.

“Today’s celebration is even more special as we are gathered to share the message of Diwali and celebrate the triumph of good over evil,” she said.

“This message never gets old and no matter how many generations we pass, nothing will be able to replace the importance of righteousness.”

Ms Bhatnagar said the story of Diwali highlighted family unity, togetherness, good values, loving one another and standing for justice.

“Even in this era, these traits are what makes a complete, fulfilling life for us and our loved ones. Our ministry looks after five most vulnerable segments of Fijian   population – women, children, and people with disabilities, older person and poor.

“And undoubtedly, in our everyday work we use principles that come out strongly in the story of Diwali,” she said.

Ms Bhatnagar wished all Fijians a Happy Diwali.
