Bowlers Aim For Top 10

The Fiji women’s bowling team will aim to improve their 16th place ranking at the World Bowls Championship in Christchurch, New Zealand on November 29-December 12.

“We are looking to improve and hopefully get into the top 10,” team manager Usa Kalim said.

“In the last World Bowls the women’s team reached the last 16 but we want to get into the knockout stages and hopefully the semis this year.

“I am confident we can achieve that goal because our Trips team is really good.

“We’ve a really good team and I think this year we can get even closer, especially with our Trips team.”

The trips team consist of Litia Tikoisuva, Sheral Mar and Elizabeth Moceiwai.

Kalim said their toughest opponent would Australia.

“Training for the World Bowls has been going really well, we have had good competitions,” she said.

“We have a very tough pool and the biggest threat to us is Australia but I think the women will do fine because it all comes down to adjusting to the weather and condition.

“The greens in New Zealand will be much faster and also the conditions will be different, whoever can adjust better will most likely win.

The Fiji women’s bowling team consists of Litia Tikoisuva, Sheral Mar, Elizabeth Moceiwai, Sai Walker and Loretta Kotoisuva.

The Fiji men’s team consists of Arun Kumar, Rajnesh Prasad, Kushal Pillay, Semesa Naiseruvati and Samuela Tui.
