Mataitini Gets Top UN Award

A Fijian serving in the United Nations has won a top award.

The announcement was made by Peter Drennan, Under-Secretary for the UN Department of Safety and Security.

“It is with great pleasure that I ask you to join me in congratulating our colleague Nauludole Mataitini (Matt), currently Chief Security Advisor in Darfur, who received the 2017 Secretary-General’s Award under the category of “Collegiality,” Mr Drennan said.

“Matt was nominated, without his knowledge, by his team. I am well aware that such popularity and unanimity are rare and demonstrate Matt’s management and leadership skills.

“Matt has been serving the organisation for many years and has been a role model to all he meets and works with.

“UNDSS is very fortunate to have a professional like Matt who creates a positive working environment where staff feel valued and motivated to do their best.”
