Test For Alleged Rice Whisky

The Police are in the process of testing the liquid believed to be rice whisky, which was seized during three raids in Labasa last Friday.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said three men were questioned and released following the three raids on illegal homebrew.
“No one has been charged yet as the liquid seized has to be tested and we are in the process of doing that,” Ms Naisoro said.
“The first raid was at the home of a 55-year-old, self-employed of Boca, Bulileka, where the liquid believed to be rice whiskey, was seized.
The second raid was at the home of a 48-year-old, a shopkeeper of Bulileka, where bottles filled with clear liquor believed to be rice whiskey, was also seized.
“The third raid was conducted at the house of a 49-year-old of Boubale, Bulileka, whereby bottles, gallon tanks and buckets filled with clear liquor water, believed to be rice whiskey, was seized,” Ms Naisoro further revealed.
“Other equipment believed to be used for making the home brew were also seized.”
