Rewa’s Lorima Dau bagged two goals to help the ‘Delta Tigers’ win 2-1 against Nadi in the Vodafone Premier League at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori, yesterday.

What happened?

Rewa was made to work hard as Nadi’s Sairusi Niulevu  had a real chance of scoring as he beat Rewa goalie Simione Tamanisau but the Rewa defenders got to the net in time to kick the ball away.

But Nadi’s hard work finally paid off with a goal from Ame Votiniu who headed the ball into the back of the net from a corner kick. Rewa struggled to get one back before half time but luck was not on their side.

Half time: Rewa 0-1 Nadi

Substitute Sailosi Rayaqona had a chance to equalise inside the box for Rewa but the Nadi defence was too good.

Nadi’s Waisake Tabucava was red carded

Rewa got desperate to equalise as they took a shot at goal whenever they got the chance.

The home side finally got their equaliser from a free kick by Epeli Saukuru to Lorima Dau who headed the ball into the net, 1-1. A minute later, Dau pulled a double as he scored the second goal for Rewa ending the game 2-1.

Star turn

Lorima Dau played a key role in the win.

Comments

Rewa coach Marika Rodu: “It was a good win but we missed too many chances. The boys knew what they had to do in the second half and they stood up. I am happy with Lorima Dau, it really goes to show the experience he has. He was really determined to score and you could see it.”

Nadi coach Joseph Nand: “We were winning but then that red card cost us and Rewa took advantage but it is one of those days where you can’t win all the time. I just want the fans to be patient with us and keep supporting the team because Nadi always bounces back.”
