President Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konrote arrived in Sinai to meet with Fijian peacekeepers who are serving there in the Multinational Force and Observers (MFO) mission.

The President was accorded a guard of honour on his arrival and later to a traditional ceremony of welcome by the men and women serving in Southern Sinai.

President Konrote was later briefed by the MFO Force Commander in Sinai, Major-General  Denis Thompson of Canada, on their operations and the contribution by Fijian peacekeepers serving there.

He was keen to learn on the current situation in Sinai and was reassured by the Force Commander on the safety of the Fijians working in the Sinai.

The President later held informal talks with the Fijian peacekeepers.
