The Suva Youth team recorded their first win in the Vodafone Under-17 Youth League after they beat Tailevu/ Naitasiri 3-1 at the Fiji Football Association Academy ground yesterday.

Patrick Khan scored the first goal followed by Filipe Leong and Nikil Nitesh Chand.

Coach Radhe Krishna is pleased with their first win especially against a tough Tailevu Naitasiri side.

“The win has been really good for us and is something we really needed,” Krishna said.

“We have a development side and have faced a lot of hiccups during the competition with our skills, combinations but everything has finally come together for us.

“We have two more games left in this competition and we want to end the tournament on a high note.”

Krishna said their aim from the beginning of the competition was not to win but build players for next year.

Suva have two more games left. They take on Rewa and Nasinu next.

Meanwhile, in the Vodafone Women’s Senior League held at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori, Tailevu/ Naitasiri thrashed Lami 6-0, Navua and Nasinu drew 2-2 and Rewa beat Suva 3-2.
