Labasa defeated Nadogo 2-1 in the Vodafone U17 Youth League at Seaqaqa Muslim Primary School on Saturday.
The two goals for the Baby Babasiga Lions were scored by Saimone Mataomi, a student of Labasa College. Coach Roneel Ram said his players found it difficult at first to get into competition mode.
“After a one-month break due to school examinations, the boys found it difficult to get into the groove,”Ram said.
“We are taking this league seriously as it could prepare these young boys to start a career in football.”
In the other games, Seaqaqa beat Dreketi 1-0 and Bua won by default after Savusavu failed to turn up.
