The wives of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) extended their helping hand on Saturday to patients admitted in the Lancaster Ward at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital.

They donated toiletries, fruits and other necessities as part of the Pinktober awareness.

A Lancaster ward staff nurse who wished to remain anonymous said the donation by from the military wives was not the first.

Kinisimere Raikosa, 38, of Korovou, Tailevu, who is a patient at Lancaster ward said: “I came here on Wednesday for a check-up and I dint know that I was going to be admitted. So I wasn’t prepared with anything. I am so grateful with the items I received today from the RFMF wives. Many of us here are cases of heavy bleeding so we don’t come prepared with sanitary napkins, some of us couldn’t afford to buy fruits, so yeah we are so thankful.”

Another patient Laite Radinikadavu, 47, also from Tailevu, said: “It’s really helpful and we are so thankful, especially for those who couldn’t afford the items. It’s really nice of them.”
