Carpenters Group of Companies staff donated $25,000 worth of food items to Koro Island.

Carpenters Fiji Limited director retail and marketing, Kunaseelan Sabaratnam said all the items contributed are for the villagers in Koro Island.

“After reading the headlines in the newspaper that the Island does not have much food supply, so we felt, in Diwali this year, we want to contribute to something for the families in the Island.

“We want to give them something to look upon and this initiative is a little hope for them to look up to.

“The boat is leaving on Tuesday and by Wednesday they should receive the food items.

“It is later than Diwali, but something they would remember us by till Christmas and New Year’s,” Mr Sabaratnam said.

He said Government has done their part, the business leaders and corporate organisations have done their part, but now it’s the people who need to come forward.

“We have to help our people to prepare for the future and their children’s well-development.

“We need a lot of contributions to help the Tropical Cyclone Winston affected victims,” Mr Sabaratnam said.
