The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Nausori Stake over the weekend were reminded to work hard in whatever capacity they were called to.

Nausori Stake first counsellor Ernest Vitinavulagi made the reminder to more than 1500 church members during the closing of their two-day stake conference at the LDS Chapel in Naulu on Sunday.

Stake leaders trained and counselled its members during the conference on ways to improve their spiritual, social and physical lives to become better members of their families, the church, community and society.

Lusiana Ratukalou, 20, a former missionary for the Church, while addressing the congregation, said the similarity between her mission and her Saviour Jesus Christ was love.

Ms Ratukalou had just returned from an 18 months mission serving the people of Auckland in New Zealand.

She said her faith in Jesus, love for her family and the people of New Zealand gave her strength when things were tough on her mission field.

Ms Ratukalou said it helped her overcome rejection when doors were slammed on their faces and being chased by dogs.

Stake president Lote Qoroya in his closing remarks at the conference reminded the congregation to strengthen their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and strengthen their families.

He told Stake members that they had a lot to do so that they could “see more with their eyes, hear more with their ears and feel more with their hearts.”

The local conference is part of four keys events which LDS church members look forward to in a calendar year that take place every six months.

Members came from as far as Levuka in Ovalau, Saioko, Nasautoka, Burewai in Tailevu and from Naitasiri.

Two other anticipated events are the general conferences held in Salt Lake City which are broadcasted live to all members around the world.
