A head teacher in Nadi says the tablet initiative introduced by Government has worked wonders for their students.

Anitesh Singh of Malamala Public School said they were given 20 tablets from the Ministry of Education.

“It has been fruitful and they enjoy using the tablet where they have educational activities that promote and enhance learning,” he said.

He highlighted this as the Minister for Education, Heritage and Arts Mahendra Reddy opened Malamala Public School’s computer lab and library in Nadi recently.

Mr Reddy said: “We need to uplift the bench mark of academic excellence and boost up the infrastructure.”

Meanwhile, thanks to the collective efforts by Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa, Raddison Blu, a former student and the Lautoka Cane Producers Association, 142 students’ learning has been enhanced.

Mr Singh said: “We thank the sponsors and the ministry for their kind donations that will enhance the learning of our students.”

Mr Reddy said: “We do not want to teach our children the text book that was used 30 years ago; we don’t want to be in 30 years. We should prepare our children for the future. We are here ensuring that our children have a brighter future.

“The library is the place that gives you unbounded knowledge and it place allows you to open up and use text books.

“I acknowledge your support to these children, and say we are together in this journey to build a knowledge-based society to make sure the children’s dreams come true.”
