The man found guilty by the High Court in Suva for murdering his defacto partner will be sentenced today.
Usaia Kilaiverata, 32, is charged with one count of murder. He was found guilty by the court on Tuesday.
Kilaiverata, on April 4, 2015 murdered his de facto partner, McGowan.
The written sentencing and mitigation submissions were filed by the Defence lawyer, Samanunu Vaniqi, yesterday.
In his submission, Mr Vaniqi told the court that Kilaiverata was under the influence of liquor and he showed remorse as well.
Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) lawyer Rajneel Kumar said intoxication could not be regarded as a mitigating factor.
Kilaiverata will be sentenced by High Court judge Justice Priyantha Fernando.
