Netball Fiji with major partners Digicel Fiji and Punjas launched the 2nd Super League Series yesterday.

The six-team series will be held for five weeks with pool rounds in Suva, Lautoka and Sigatoka and finals on December 3 in Lautoka.

Netball Fiji president Wainikiti Bogidrau said; “We are excited to stage the Super League Series for the second year and thank our sponsors, Digicel and Punjas for their continued support. Their support is invaluable to the continuing growth and development of netball here.

The league is regarded as a pathway to elite netball in Fiji and features some of the best players.

“It’s compulsory that each team names Fiji under 21 players in their 12 member line up every Saturday and play them for a minimum of one quarter per game. This will ensure that they get game experience to assist them for the World Youth Cup preparations.”

Digicel Fiji head of marketing Sheryl Singh said the company is thrilled to continue to support Netball Fiji for the second successive year.

“The Super League continues to provide the platform for on-going player development in the country,” she said.

“We have worked closely Netball Fiji executives and Punjas to see this partnership help a huge number of players at all levels of the game, from the schools, provincial level and the elite players. We believe our partnership will promote netball’s profile and continuing advancement in this country and support a pathway for the development of future Fiji Pearls players.”

Punjas Group marketing manager Gopal Jadhav said, “I am delighted to partner with Digicel Fiji to support Super League Series again this year. We hope the Super League will create an intensely fought, captivating and innovative competition, featuring our best payers.

“We are genuinely excited about the start of the super League Series as this is an important focus for Fiji to strengthen and increase quality of players, coaches and officials.”

The first round of games will be held at the FMF National Gymnasium in Suva this Saturday.
