Police Uproot 4970 Plants

Close to 5000 plants believed to be marijuana were uprooted and four people were arrested after Police raids on Wednesday afternoon during three separate operations.
After a tip off at around midday on Wednesday, Tavua Police raided a farm at Matalevu where they found three plastic bags containing dried leaves and uprooted 4970 plants with heights ranging from 20 centimetres to 2.3 metres believed to be marijuana.
The owner of the farm is yet to be arrested by Police.
Later that day, Tavua Police stopped and searched a rental car in town where they found a black plastic bag which had three rolls of aluminium foil with dried leaves believed to be marijuana.
The rental car was in town and the driver was acting in a suspicious manner which made Police react by stopping and searching the said vehicle. The driver is now in Police custody in Tavua.
On the same day at Lautoka, Police raided a 41 year old unemployed man’s house after obtaining a search warrant.
During the search, 12 rolls of dried leaves believed to be marijuana was found along with $1025 cash.
The owner and two other occupants of the house were all arrested and are still in Police custody.
All of the four suspects have been interviewed and are in custody awaiting the results of the analysis of the leaves seized
Police are appealing to members of the public for any information in regards to the ownership of the Matalevu farm in Tavua.
