Some Hardware Firms Told: Fix Material Delivery
Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum

Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says hardware companies not performing well have been told to improve their service delivery.

He said he held constructive discussions after complaints of slow delivery of building material to Cyclone Winston affected areas.

“We had a meeting with the hardware companies and obviously we have asked a number of things very critically,” Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said.

“We are not satisfied with some of the companies and we have asked them to seriously pull up their socks and we hope to have this resolved.

“Some companies have done a lot better than others and some of the others are way behind in respect to their deliveries.

“One or two companies did raise the issue that there was a short supply of building blocks but the shortage of supply of timber and steel is no longer applicable.

“So a lot of them are well stocked up in that respect and it’s a whole delivery issue too.”
