Preparation for the upcoming FMF Chow Games for Suva One is going into its last stages of training.

The games will be held on November 18-19 at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.

Head coach Viliame Momo said they are keeping a low profile but is grateful the games will provide exposure for the athletes since they will not be combining with Suva Two this year.

“We are going into our final preparations next week and everything has been good,” Momo said.

“We are fortunate to have some young coaches who have been a big help.

“The Year Seven students are having their external exams and will join the training squad later.

“We have 140 athletes and last year, we combined with Suva Two but this year we will be on our own.

“We consider it a blessing because it allows students who would not have represented their district to be taking part.

“It will provide a lot of exposure for the students, especially, because the two zones combined was hard for most students to get into.”

“The last time we had a division like this was in 2014 where we took out the boys and the overall medals.

“Winning is one thing but defending is the tough part and that will be a challenge for us this year but the athletes are doing well and they welcome the challenge.”

“Competition is tough every year, we know how well athletes have been training and much they want to win so it will not be easy this year,” he said.

Suva One is made up of athletes from Stella Marist Primary, Vatuwaqa Primary, Gospel Primary, Saint Marcellin, Draiba Primary, Suva Methodist, Dudley Intermediate, International School Suva, Holy Trinity and Marist Brothers Primary.
