The Fiji Broadcasting Corporation has terminated the contract of host and producer of the vernacular programme, Wasea Bhasha.

This was confirmed by the chief executive officer, Riyaz Sayed-Khaiyum during a press conference at FBC office in Suva yesterday.

“The contract termination has been mutual as Mr Bainivalu has taken full responsibility for his actions.

“Utterances made by Mr Bainivalu were in total contradiction to the intention and policy of the FBC as a responsible national broadcaster that has done so much for a united Fiji and continues to daily lead from the front for the course of a patriotic Fiji with a common identity.

“Taking our guidelines into consideration, the FBC has had no choice, but to end our contract with Mr Bainivalu.”

He said Wasea Bhasha was too important for the country to come to an end.

Wasea Bhasha was a good show and it played an extremely positive role in our new Fiji,” he said.

“This is why we are now in the process of identifying a new host that will do the show proud.”
