Tactical Change Pushes Divas To Victory

It was a lucky escape for the Satellite Divas from Nasinu as they edged out Jisoko Plateaus 45-41 in the first round of the Digicel Punjas Netball Super League at the FMF Gymnasium, Suva, yesterday.
Plateaus took the lead in the first half 21-20 but a change in position proved successful for the Divas as they picked up in the last two quarters leading to their win.
Speaking to SUNsports, Divas manger Lu Rakavono said she was impressed with the way her team had picked up their game.
“We have one national rep and that is Alisi Waqa, two under-20 reps while the rest are just upcoming players,” she said.
“We can’t say anything now because we have a lot of work to do. We will pick up by working on the mistakes that we made and do better the next time. I believe in my girls I know that they can do better and they will do their best in the Super league.”
Plateaus manager Atelaite Lutumailagi said losing their first game would not dampen their spirits as they would work on their mistakes to prepare for the next game.
“We knew it was going to be tough with the Satellite Divas. I think unity brought the girls up in the first quarter.
“I’m really proud of them and we won’t lose hope. For some of the girls this is their first time as well,” she added.
