The Nadroga football team staged a dramatic come-back to beat Lautoka 2-1 in their Vodafone Premier League match at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka yesterday.

It was a do-or-die effort from the Stallions as they desperately needed the three points to avoid being relegated to the Senior Division.

What Happened: Left link Jeshal Kumar was Nadroga’s hero scoring both goals. But it was Lautoka who drew first blood in the 43rd minute through a Sekove Finau strike. The Stallions attempted to equalise but poor finishing let them down.

Halftime: Lautoka 1-0 Nadroga. The hosts did not give up and in the 53rd minute Lautoka defender Iliesa Lino handled the ball in the box and Kumar equalised. In the 75th minute, Nadroga managed to put together a string of passes and Kumar was again on hand to slot in the winner.

Comments: Nadroga coach Waisea Tale (Snr): “If we lose we are on the verge of being demoted but hope is still there. We now prepare for Rewa or Suva this weekend and we will be back training tomorrow and hope to improve on our midfield. But overall, good game and I applaud the teamwork.”

Lautoka coach Kamal Swami said: “It is really disappointing and there is no shape in our game. We will work on the next two games as we prepare for the Pacific Cup.”
