Awards Laucala Island Shines At World Luxury Hotels Awards

The popular high end luxurious Laucala Island Resort came out as the shining stars for Fiji at the 10th Annual World Luxury Hotels Awards scooping two awards.

Laucala Island won the Luxury Villa in the Continent Winners category and Luxury Private Island Resort in the country category.

It was amongst seven other resorts locally which won single awards in the country category.

Announced at the 2016 Gala Awards Dinner on Doha, Qatar in October, hotels and resorts from around the world were presented their awards which celebrated its 10th anniversary.

The award is to recognise some of the world’s finest hotels for their luxury offerings and exceptional service delivery.

Laucala Island is a private island refuge in the South Pacific which unites dramatic rainforest-laced landscapes and white sandy beaches with unparalleled levels of luxury and privacy.

Twenty-five Fijian-styled villas are set amid coconut plantations, beside deserted beaches and atop the island’s volcanic mountains, overlooking fertile coral reefs and endless jungle.

Style and sustainability go hand in hand throughout, from the natural fibres and woods used in design to the wild orchids harvested in gardens and organic produce grown on island farms.

It has played hosts to numerous Hollywood celebrities.

Other resorts

Other resorts which won were Emaho Sekawa Resort, Naisoso Island Resort Villas, Qamea Resort & Spa, Sheraton Resort & Spa, Tokoriki Island, Taveuni Palms Resort , The Wakaya Club & Spa and The Westin Denarau Island Resort & Spa.

Naisoso Island Resort Villas continues to forge ahead with their unique self-catered accommodation offerings, as Naisoso slowly grows and develops.

Despite there being a long way to go before the island is fully operational, winning such accolades is a testament to the service they are already delivering.

Managing Director, Nyssa Berryman, said: “We have worked very hard not only to establish a brand new type of accommodation-style in Fiji.

“But against tough conditions such a tropical cyclones and delays in facilities on the island.

“We continue to push the envelope on service delivered to our guests to ensure they have an exceptional stay and wonderful experience in Fiji overall.”
