Unconstitutional education
tribunal
Arun Prasad,
Nausori
I wish to sincerely thank the Attorney-General and Minister for Civil Service Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum for rightfully disbanding the Ministry of Education’s appointed Disciplinary Services Board (DSB) for it did not have any legal standing.
A good Minister is always ready to listen to those who come under his/her ministry.
And I thank the Attorney-General for giving audience to the Fiji Teachers’ Union and the Fijian Teachers’ Association.
Many teachers have suffered at the hands of this unconstitutional board, where the Ministry had played the role of the prosecutor, the jury and the judge.
The teachers of Fiji are now so relieved knowing that justice will now be done, and there would be procedural fairness and all cases will now go through a fair system.
Once again, on behalf of hundreds of teachers who have suffered at the hands of the so called MOE Disciplinary Services Board, I thank Mr Sayed-Khaiyum for his timely intervention.
Daylight saving
Sukha Singh,
Labasa
The best thing about daylight saving is when you look at your watch at night at 11pm, you know it is actually 10 pm so you can go to sleep an hour later. The same thing in the morning when you’re supposed to wake up at 6am it is actually 5am so you can sleep for another hour.
I am so lucky the time and tide has no effect on me.
Daylight tardiness
Narayan Reddy,
Lautoka
First day of work after daylight and most workers come in late.
I also missed my morning road run, because it was too dark at 5am.
The funny part was when Allen was late to have his morning mix before his breakfast!.
