Accident Victim Recovers In Hospital

The 14-year-old boy who was allegedly run over by a vehicle last Tuesday in Nabua, Suva, is recovering well at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital.

Marika Dakuitoga, was one of the two students who were victims of the accident during a brawl which arose out of an alleged theft.

His father, Joe Rabele, who has been with his son in hospital since his admission, said yesterday that he had showed positive recovery signs, after starting with physiotherapy.

“He now has started to stand from his bed and is able to move his legs, although there are metal braces attached to it,” Mr Rabele said.

“Everything remains positive for me and my wife at the moment. Marika underwent two surgeries and metal braces are attached to his legs to support them.”

Mr Rabele also thanked the Vodafone Fiji Bati Residents players, including Australian-based Fiji Bati veteran and hooker James Storer, for visiting his son on Monday.

“I thank the Fiji Residence players for their thoughts and willingness to come and donate blood for my son,” he said.

“It was a big boost in my son’s recovery seeing their support and their presence especially with James Storer who accompanied them.”

Mr Rabele added that his son is expected to remain in hospital for over three months for full recovery.
