Fiji TV Apologies To Chief Of FBC

Fiji Television Limited has apologised to Fiji Broadcasting Corporation’s chief executive officer Riyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.
Fiji TV’s executive director Nouzab Fareed made the apology yesterday.
The apology is for Fiji TV misreporting Mr Sayed-Khaiyum’s use of the word ‘idiots’ during a press conference on Wasea Bhasa.
Mr Fareed said last night that he had gone through the news items several times written by that one reporter. He had read Mr Sayed-Khaiyum’s letter and spoken to the people involved.
“It is an unfortunate incident which has triggered this,” Mr Fareed said.
“Yes, I agree that some of the words used in the news items may not be appropriate but whatever has happened has happened.
“So I had made an official apology to Mr Sayed-Khaiyum and FBC team.
“We will make sure that this kind of things doesn’t happen again.
“But we are not competitors, we are very close friends.”
Meanwhile, Mr Sayed-Khaiyum confirmed that he had received a call from Mr Fareed and he had seen Fiji One News last night where Mr Fareed had apologised on behalf of his team.
However, he said he had accepted the apology but it was up to Media Industry Development Authority (MIDA) to decide on the issue.
