Fijian Students Not Affected By Scam

Fijian students studying in New Zealand have not been affected by a recent visa fraud.

An article publicised by an overseas media in June this year had stated that hundreds of international students studying at private institutions in New Zealand faced the risk of deportation because of a suspected visa fraud.

According to the article, Immigration New Zealand had sent deportation liability notices to a number of Fijian students, following an investigation of the visa application documents used to gain access to the country.

“I can confirm that I am unaware of any students from Fiji being affected,” said area manager (Pacific Region) Immigration New Zealand/Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, Rex Heesterman.
