A man allegedly involved in a hit and run incident case in Nabua last week was denied bail by the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday.

Magistrate Shageeth Somaratne refused the bail application of Jone Vakarisi, 27, because he allegedly committed another offence whilst on bail.

Magistrate Shageeth Somaratne said: “I find that the accused is unlikely to surrender to custody if granted bail and his interest lies in keeping him in custody.”

The court heard that the accused had another pending case at the Nasinu Magistrates Court, where he is on bail for common assault.

Vakarisi is charged with two counts each of act with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

It is alleged that on November 1, Vakarisi intentionally tried to harm two students, Marika Dakuitoga and Ilaitia Fifita.

The case was transferred to the Suva High Court for the first call on November 18.
