The principal of a school in Bua province will be dealt with for changing the exam venue without the approval of the examination office.

This was confirmed by the Minister for Education Mahendra Reddy yesterday after an investigation was done into Tui Wainunu Ratu Orisi Baleitavea’s claim about Year 13 students of Ratu Luke Secondary School doing Fiji Year 13 Certificate Examination paper last month in a church hall.

“In this regard, the head of school will be reprimanded for changing the exam venue without approval of the Exams Office,” Mr Reddy said.

Ratu Orisi said he was asked by a concerned parent last week to find out from the Ministry of Education why the exam venue was changed by the principal and whether they were aware of it.

Ratu Orisi said the parent told him the venue had to be changed because there were games at Ratu Luke Memorial School.

“We are really worried about such kind of situations happening especially in remote schools,” Ratu Orisi said.

An email sent by the school to Fiji Sun confirmed that six Year 13 students were transported in a four wheel vehicle with a supervisor to the Assemblies of God Church which is about three minutes walk from the school.
