Four Olympians will feature for the Vodafone Fijian 7s team during the Oceania 7s which starts tomorrow and Saturday at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.

Osea Kolinisau will be captaining the side along with Jasa Veremalua, Samisoni Viriviri and Kitione Taliga.

Acting coach Nacanieli Cawanibuka said this is the time for the newcomers to perform and show what they are made of and if they have what it takes to don the white jersey in the Oceania 7s.

“This weekend marks the arrival of these new players on the international stage to perform and showcase their talent,” Cawanibuka said.

“There is always a starting point to an international career so now is their time to establish their potential and prove their worth in wearing the national jersey with distinction and make their clubs, provinces and families proud  .

“They’ve trained hard and graduated through some tough days in camp in the last two weeks and have gelled well with the senior players.

“This weekend the whole squad will have ample game time to perform as best they can and see how they can contribute positively to the team goal for this weekend.

“While we want to see what they individually can offer, the collective team effort is what we’re hoping to come right on the weekend, which we’re anticipating to be a very good test for us as a group.”

“Should be exciting weekend for    these players and hope they enjoy it and make the most of this opportunity as there are many boys out there also vying for places in the team.

“All in all this is part of the transition phase as we build for the new World Sevens Series season.”
