Fiji Sun is again supporting the Republic of Fiji Military Forces rugby team as the Ratu Sukuna Bowl match nears.

Fiji Sun managing editor digital Rosi Doviverata presented a $40,000 cheque to the RFMF chief of staff Colonel Litea Seruiratu at Queen Elizabeth Barracks in Nabua to assist the team in the  2016 Ratu Sukuna Bowl match on November 24.

On behalf of the Commander of the RFMF,  Colonel Seruiratu acknowledged the Fiji Sun for its continuous support.

Doviverata said: “We hope that the sponsorship would help make this year’s event a success.

“Be rest assured that we will continue to support RFMF as we have been doing in the past.”

She said the Fiji Sun support had begun back when it was difficult to get such sponsorship. The Fiji Sun was happy to see other sponsors now backing this iconic rugby match.

Colonel Seruiratu was confident the RFMF will win the Sukuna Bowl from Fiji Police Force at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.

In the launching last month; Colonel Seruiratu said: “We all understand that rugby, like any other sport is a physical sport.

“For us in the military it is a sport which is closest to combat where we strategise in the war room before we adorn appropriate battle dresses to position ourselves ready for war.

“Our victory is determined by the amount of territory we gain and how well we outmanoeuvre our opponents.

“It involves a lot of strength both physically and mentally, while at the same time, fitness, agility and smart strategy are the requirements for our success.

“Our team will be victorious in working together as a team because teamwork makes our dream work.

“We will fight for every inch and we will never take anything for granted.

“To us, failure is not an option, we will play smart and play fair to give our families, our sponsors, our supporters and those who love rugby, the best that we can offer.”
