Members of the public are advised to refrain from dealing and exchanging money with people who call them with promises of securing taxi permits.

Three cases were reported with the Criminal Investigations Department and a few others within the Nasinu district.

Certain individuals are calling people using the name of senior Land Transport Authority giving confirmation that a taxi permit can be secured if a certain amount of money is deposited directly to an account.

Some victims have paid up to $3,000 only to later find out it was a scam and were short of both money and a permit.

As investigations are ongoing we are  advising members of the public to follow the proper channels and liaise only with the Land Transport Authority regarding such matters.
