The Royal Canadian Navy vessel, HMCS Vancouver, is expected to arrive in Suva next week.

It is a Halifax–class frigate which was launched on July 8, 1989 as the second vessel of her class and the third vessel to be named for Vancouver, British Columbia.

Documents obtained by this newspaper revealed that the naval ship would be in Suva on the 16th of this month.

It is believed to have a crew of about 225 and has been deployed in Middle East trouble spots.

Fiji Navy Commander, Commander John Fox, when contacted yesterday declined to divulge information on the ship because of security reasons.

Meanwhile, the Republic of the Fiji Military Forces had stated earlier as this would be a busy time for them as naval ships from around the world would be visiting.
