The Fiji Sugar Corporation (FSC) Labasa mill will be hosting a whole day celebration to mark the successful 2016 crushing season at their sports court today.

This was confirmed by the FSC general manager Karia Christopher yesterday.

“All the employees will gather for the celebration beginning from 7am,” Mr Christopher said.

“We have successfully finished our crushing season and everything happened as planned which is a great achievement for us.”

Mr Christopher had advised sugarcane farmers to continue making good use of the Government grant.

“We are continuing with the new planting and re-planting programme and hence we advise farmers to work with us so that we can again have a successful crushing season,” Mr Christopher said.

“We are again aiming for maximum yield and this can only be met by the collectively effort including farmers,”

Fiji Sugar Corporation acting chief executive officer Mika Biukoto said they cannot confirm when the third sugar shipment would take place as discussion with buyers continues.
