Mohammed Rieaz Khan is the owner of Toyota Celica GT4 powered by a 3sgte third generation engine. The car goes by the registration SILNCE.

What makes the vehicle unique is there are only two vehicles of such type in Fiji, Mr Khan said.

Mr Khan, a central banker by profession, is originally from Nadi but has been living in Suva for the past 20 years. He works at the Reserve Bank of Fiji.

He is also a car enthusiast and a regular participant in the Fiji Car Club-organised drags and car shows.

Mr Khan has done a lot of upgrades on his vehicle and fine tuning is the key to getting the best performance, however, he stressed it takes a lot of effort and time.

Most parts for upgrading his vehicle have been imported as they are not locally available locally.

“This car has been with me for more than three years now, a lot of modifications been done on it to get better performance,” he said.

Mr Khan has been racing for more than six years now and started off with his Toyota Corolla II powered by a 4efte engine in 2009.

His maximum speed at the tracks has been 170km/h and his best timing has been 14.2 seconds.

In the drags the past week, Mr Khan won both the quarter mile drag and drag wars in the 15 seconds category.

In terms of his aim, Mr Khan said: “It would be a great achievement if i do a timing of 13 seconds with my Toyota Celica, which currently has a stock engine and turbo.”
