A trade delegation from Lebanon will be visiting Fiji in September, 2017 to explore opportunities to deepen economic co-operation between the two countries.

The announcement followed a meeting in Beirut between Prime Minister Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama and his Lebanese counterpart, Prime Minister Saad Hariri.

The two men discussed the ongoing efforts of Fijian UN Peacekeepers to maintain stability in the region, and Prime Minister Bainimarama reaffirmed Fiji’s commitment to UN Peacekeeping operations.

Prime Minister Bainimarama is also in Lebanon to meet Fijian UN Peacekeepers stationed in various parts of the country serving in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon.

Prime Minister Bainimarama’s talks with Prime Minister Hariri were a part of a three-day visit to Lebanon. He will go on to attend the 2016 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP22) in Marrakesh, Morocco.
