As the fourth leg of the Pacific Energy Shell Lubricants Drag Race series ended on Sunday, champion driver, Ravin Nath, was named the winner of the series.

With the win the past week, Mr Nath managed to win three of the four legs of the series with only one more remaining. His best timing for the day on Sunday was 10.596 seconds.

His closest competitor, Ravi Nair has won only one leg.

Mr Nair is understood to have pulled out of the series due to work commitment and says he will not be able to participate in any more events this year.

Even if there is another winner in the final leg of the series, Mr Nath will lead with three wins.

Mr Nath, the managing director of Wishbone and Pizza King, is a veteran racer and maintains the fastest timing of 9.75 seconds in quarter mile ever recorded.

His commitment on drag events is noteworthy. As highlighted previously by the President of the Fiji Car Club, Raizal Haniff, Mr Nath is the first one at the tracks on race day.

He then stays throughout the day until the trophy ceremony. This is something which the younger racers have been urged to learn from Mr Nath.

Pacific Energy had sponsored $25,000 to Fiji Car Club for five race events – a big milestone for the car club.

And the morale amongst executives, participants and also the members were boosted on Sunday with special visits by two high level people.

The first visit was by the Permanent Secretary for Transport and Infrastructure, Paul Bayly who paid a special visit to briefly see some of Fiji’s fastest cars in action.

Also, Pacific Energy SWP chief executive, Randall Vallette, also paid a courtesy visit to witness the same with his family.

Mr Haniff said Mr Vallette was very impressed with the way the Fiji Car Club ran the event.

“To have Mr Vallette coming to an event of the Fiji Car Club shows the club has come a long way,” he said.
