Nadi Aviators have been crowned FNRL Vodafone Inter-Zone Competition champions after edging out Suva Eagles 38-30 at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori yesterday. Nadi Rugby League president, Joe Gray has issued a challenge to the Fiji Residents team to take them on.

“We are on the top and we will remain on the top,” he said.

“We have won the Under-20. We have won the Super Premier what more. My only message is for the selection of the Fiji Residence side, if it can be done more transparently and I think our boys have proved themselves today. Nadi would invite the Fiji Residents team to come down for a challenge match with the Nadi Aviators. We will put $1000 on the table and the winner takes all.”

Gray said the win was expected as they had worked hard for it.

“We want to glorify God. Nadi Aviators are a humble team. We kept ourselves humble we kept our composure we knew what Suva was going to come with. For the boys they were even more motivated to find that there were seven Residents reps that opted to play for Suva instead for Fiji and that really boosted their moral which I salute them for.”

Grey added that the team had a huge support system backing them up.

Meanwhile, the Nadi Aviators U20 side beat Nasinu Tigers 19-12 in the Vodafone Cup competition final
