Rewa have qualified for the O- League after defeating Nadroga 1-0 during the Vodafone Premier League clash at Prince Charles Park, Nadi, yesterday.

The ‘Delta Tigers’ and league leader Ba will represent Fiji in the Oceania Football Confederation premier competition while Nadroga will be demoted to the Senior  Division competition next year.

Rewa coach Marika Rodu said the game was crucial and important for them to win.

“We played for a purpose and the boys understand the importance of the win.

“We came in with a bunch of young boys and Nadroga gave us a good run.

“But we stuck to the plan and our focus was to qualify for the O-League.

“We give credit to the Almighty God,” Rodu said.

Veteran Lorima Dau, Mitieli Namuka and Misaele Draunibaka, who scored for the ‘Delta Tigers’, received yellow cards.

“The O-League is a different ball game and its requires more quality players who can perform to the next level,” Rodu said.

Meanwhile, Nadroga assistant coach Kaminieli Tuilawaki said the changing of the venue affected their performance.

“It was supposed to be our home game but when they shifted it to Nadi there was a lot of confusion.  We were hoping to have our home crowd to back us up.

“But I think we still managed to give Rewa a good game.”
