A new-found singing talent, Archana Williams, never thought taking part in a church choir would one day help her win a live stage performance.

The 25-year-old school teacher won the Season 3 Sur Sangharsh (Hunt for the Singing Sensations) grand finale on Saturday night. She walked away with $1000 in prize money.

“I am so happy and proud to win the Season 3 Sur Sangharsh (Hunt for the Singing Sensations). I have been going to the Saint Agnes Parish Church and I have been part of the church choir group since childhood,” she said.

That is where she learned about music and how to sing.

“I am so thankful to Sur Sangharsh (Hunt for the Singing Sensations) organiser, Nilesh Kumar, for coming up with this platform where youths can showcase their singing talent,” she said.

“I have gained confidence while singing on Season 3 Sur Sangharsh. I have overcome my stage fear.”

She battled with five other finalists on stage at the Vodafone Arena.

Ms Williams learned about the singing competition through a friend who encouraged her to take part.

Sur Sangharsh is a platform organised for youths to showcase their singing talents.

It was organised in 2014 by the Saregama Events Group in Fiji.
