Renowned sportswear manufacturers, Beyond Limits Known (BLK) has given a new facelift to the Red Cross building in Lautoka.

Led by its general manager Josefa Matau, the staff of the Lautoka-based firm carried out major renovations and painting works to the building, situated at the corner of Drasa Avenue and Vomo Street.

Mr Matau said the place had been run down through neglect and the company decided to reach out and give back to Red Cross for what they were doing.

“We see Red Cross every time, especially during TC Winston, providing untiring assistance to the thousands of people who were affected.

“They have been giving their help all the time in times of disasters and BLK decided to do something for them,” Mr Matau said.

He said their work was part of the BLK Foundation where the programme called ‘I Encourage’ was formed to carry out such works.

This is BLK’s second community work with Loloma Home in Sabeto, Nadi, benefitting from the company’s programme, where they received $1000 and had their surroundings brightened.

“Red Cross rely on donations and funding and most of their workers are volunteers and BLK has decided to thank them by revamping the building including a new sign board.”

Mr Matau highlighted businesses which had come onboard with them. This included sugar taxis, evolution designs and electrician, Shelvin Naicker. Mr Matau has called on businesses to join in assisting such organisations.

Mr Matau said renovations, including carpentry, electrical works and painting had cost around $2000.

Red Cross Divisional Services Co-ordinator West Maciu Bolaitamana said the final outcome of this exercise would rejuvenate the image of the branch at its current landmark in the Sugar City.
