Coach Makes Move

Fijian-born England rugby winger Semesa Rokoduguni and No.8 Nathan Hughes are tipped to face their fellow countrymen early Sunday morning (Fijian time).

This was after England head coach Eddie Jones confirmed last night, that he was to make changes to his side to face the Vodafone Flying Fijians at Twickenham.

“But I will not give away cheap caps in the process,” he told The Telegraph.

Jones said he intended to use the match against the Pacific Island side, who won an Olympic gold medal in the sevens in Rio, as an opportunity to test players he believes will become central figures in his squad building towards the World Cup in Japan in 2019. But the Australian insisted any changes would have to be earned.

Rokoduguni, Hughes, Joe Marler, Jamie George, Kyle Sinckler and Ben Te’o are in strong contention to earn promotion to the starting XV as England look to maintain their 100 per cent record under Jones, who has equalled the record set by South Africa’s Nick Mallett and Kitch Christie by winning his first 10 matches in charge.

“We want to keep improving the team so there are guys I want to have a look at who I think may be better than the guys I have in now,” Jones said.

A 33-man squad has assembled at Pennyhill Park, with the only change being Josh Beaumont, who was named as one of the two match squad reserves for the victory over South Africa, returning to his club, Sale Sharks.
