Road Improvement Works In Navua Nears Completion

Road improvement works are nearing completion at Navua by the Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) to keep the expected increased traffic flowing once Navua is declared as a town.

FRA General Manager Network Operations and Maintenance Aram Goes says the road infrastructure is being improved in hopes of continuing social and economic development in the area.

“All works started in early October with the total cost amounting close to $2.5million.”

He said their contractor, Fulton Hogan Hiways Limited worked tremendously hard in completing these 1.8km of road works.

“Works include new and improved footpaths, upgraded parking bays, new road markings, and upgraded drainage channels.”

Mr Goes said the new roads will increase road capacity, help deliver smoother journeys for drivers and help boost the local economy. The new improved look of Navua Town is also hoped to see the community take more pride and greater care of the roads and streets litter problems.

Meanwhile, he said the new streetlights and road hump installations will be completed by next week.

“The FRA wishes to thank the road users for their patience and understanding as we continue to improve the road infrastructure.”
