Suva born Nicholas Jordan who at last week’s Moffat Salon Culinaire won  Junior Chef of the Year dreams of owning his own restaurant.

The 2016 Moffat Salon Culinare that was held at Denarau Island as part of the HOTEC event.

Mr Jordan, 22, always had dreams of being in the food industry while growing up.

He always wanted to be in the kitchen.

After completing his studies at Marist Brothers High School, he joined Fiji National University’s College of Hospitality and Tourism Studies in Nasese in Suva.

Mr Jordan later did his apprenticeship at Castaway Island Resort in 2013 and joined Mana Island Resort last year. He currently works at Waidroka Beach Resort.

The experience and achievement for the past four years and being so young in a very competitive industry has been outstanding.

“One of my mentors was Lance Seeto who I learnt so much from while working at Castaway Resort and then later in Mana Island Resort,” said Mr Jordan.

Mr Jordan who has competed in the same competition has won medals before but this is the first time he has won an overall title for the junior chef category.

He attributes his success to his mum, his wife and two kids, and his family.

His advice to other aspiring chefs out there is wishing to join a very competitive industry is to never give up and just keep working hard no matter what people say or challenges you might face.
