The Acting Prime Minister and Attorney-General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum commended the officials of Ramakrishna Mission- Fiji for their altruistic work in the community.

The Mission yesterday donated computers to seven schools in Nadi and Lautoka at Swami Vivekananda College in Nadi.

“I would also like to thank the very altruistic work of the Swamis who are here that do a lot of social work, a lot of community work not only encompasses the issues surrounding the school itself but also around them,” Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said.

Swami Vedanishthananda of the Ramakrishna Mission, said the 110 computers were given by the well-wishers of Ramakrishna Mission- Fiji in New Zealand.

“It was after Tropical Cyclone Winston that some of our well-wishers in New Zeland took this initiative to help the people in Fiji,” Swami Vedanishthananda said.

He said some computers were earlier given to schools in Rakiraki, Ba and Tavua.

The principal of the Lautoka Muslim College, Shabra Hussein, said, she was grateful to the mission for the donations because it would help with their future plans of introducing e-learning in her school.
