Nineteen-year-old Luke Ravu won the 2016 sportsman award during the Lomary Catholic Secondary School prizegiving yesterday.

The Year 13 student of Culanuku Village in Serua aims to be a teacher.

“I won the award for my performance in rugby and athletics but I want to become a school teacher to help students in education and sports as well,”Ravu said.

“My father died two years ago and my mother did not like me playing.

“I still play for my father’s sake and this award is for him.
