The Fijian Mission in Geneva this week officially welcomed its new Deputy Permanent Representative, Radika Kumar to their office.

Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva Ambassador Nazhat Shameem Khan stated that as a newly established Mission, they were gradually finding their way in the international forum.

This is voicing Fiji’s positions at various forums but also that of its neighbours (Pacific Small Island Developing States) that look to Fiji for leadership.

“With the right personnel on the ground, it is now time to deliver more than ever, especially in light of our bid for membership to the Human Rights Council for 2018-2020.”

Ms Kumar comes with a wealth of experience in the area of International Trade and Economics and holds a Doctorate in latter discipline.

Ms Kumar has held the post of Commonwealth National Trade Adviser under the Hub and Spoke II programme based in the Republic of Marshall Islands.

She has also worked at Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism as a Trade Economist and at Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Special Assistant to the Minister for Foreign Affairs.
