Northern Star enjoy comp

Nadi’s Northern Stars men’s team aim to expose their young players in the 9th Bula FM Marist Volleyball tournament which started yesterday at the Vodafone Arena and FMF Gymnasium in Suva.
Coach Dan Vakadranu said they have a revamped team and the tournament is perfect for them.
“Competition has been good even though we are in a very tough pool. But it has been a good start and a very positive one,” Vakadranu said.
“This is our second year participating in the competition and we are mainly focused on developing our players.
“We did well last year and we have a new set of boys now.
“The main aim for us is to give them as much game time as possible and being that the Marist Volleyball tournament features some of the best teams in the sport, this is the perfect place to do that.
“All the top teams are featured here and competition has been even tougher this year compared to last year because the number of teams is small.
“The boys are excited to be here and we planned for not only a good outing but also to ensure our players learn and develop from playing against the best in the tournament.”
The knockout stages will be held today at the Vodafone Arena.
