The Isikeli Seva captained- New Zealand Lautoka Masters have qualified for the quarterfinals of the R.C. Manubhai/APCO Coatings Veteran International tournament at Prince Charles Park, Nadi.

The side recorded two wins and a draw to book a top eight spot with seven points.

Yesterday they beat Nadroga 2-0 with goals to striker Salesh ‘Bula’ Sami and Mun Reddy.

NZ Lautoka coach Albert Lal said the players fared well in the western heat.

“We are certainly looking forward to a much tougher competition during the quarterfinal,” he said.

Lal said they have been playing together in other tournaments in Australia and they are hoping this would give them the edge over other teams in the business-end-of-competition.

They are relying on veterans Jope Lomu, Arjun Pillay, Seva and Sami to steer them through.

In other results Canada thrashed NZ Tavua 3-0, Sydney Ba handed defending champions Suva their second loss 2-0, Lautoka edged Navua 1-0 while Nadi went down 0-2 to NZ Levuka.
