Labasa Muslim College on Friday bid farewell to 35 of its Year 13 students.

The students, decked in their green robes, each marched up to receive their certificates.

“These students have worked really hard in the year and have been in the school system for 13 years or more. I feel that these senior students deserve a proper graduation,” principal Jitendra Prasad said.

“They will be transitioning through to tertiary education next year and this is our gesture of farewell to our senior students and also to congratulate them for successfully completing high school.”

It was an emotional time for some of the students.

Head Boy Shivneel Reddy said he was honoured to have attended such a school.

“My principal and teachers have been very supportive of me and my friends. I am so blessed to have been in a learning environment which has pushed us to be the best, whether it be in the classroom or on the sports field,” Shivneel said.

“I will miss this place, but I know this is not the end of my journey, but rather the opening of another chapter of my life.”

Student Adi Kaveni Vakayavutabua said: “I would like to thank the management for coming up with the idea to have this graduation for us. This is our final year in high school before go out to tertiary and we could only hope for the best.”

It has been three years since they reintroduced the school tradition.
